Elder Tol'van (they/he) is the spiritual elder that the Arkwright's crew was brought to meet upon first landing on Phaethon. They welcomed the crew with open arms and worked with them to teach the crew how to speak Arcadian well enough to get the language uploaded into their translators.
During the translation efforts, Elder Tol'van's son, Van'sek went missing and then returned, acting uncharacteristically strange. They were devastated to discover that their child had been killed and skin was stolen, which revealed the threat of the Skin Stealers.
