Apátē (she/her) is the Arcadian Overseer of the Phaethon Research Facility, who arrived with Oizys and Oneiroi to take over operations, displacing San'kell in the process. She was tasked by Arcadia to conduct classified research into the Ancients and their presence on Phaethon in the distant past.
When the Skin Stealers appeared, she enacted a curfew and other safety precautions, though she was not particularly well-liked by the rest of the researchers. Just before the arrival of the Arkwright's crew, she had announced that she would soon hold a meeting where she would purge the evil of the Skin Stealers with divine light. This alarmed the crew (particularly Weyes), who needed to get to the root of the problem before Apátē's looming inquisition.
On the morning of her inquisition, the crew (barely) managed to purge the Skin Stealers' lair and bring back samples of the Ancient mechanisms that kept them imprisoned in the first place. Apátē was forced to acknowledge the skill of the crew, and called off her inquisition (which she wouldn't be able to complete without Oizys anyway). Together with San'kell, she began working on repurposing the Ancient technology that kept the Skin Stealers imprisoned to hopefully keep them at bay on a larger scale.
She also informed the crew of some fellow researchers on Arcadia that might be able to provide them with more information than she is currently authorized to provide. Additionally, Arcadian Inquisitors are currently present on Nereus investigating the strange and unnatural occurrences, which are likely somehow connected to everything else that's happened.
